About us
Who we are
Petra Pietersz-Schrier and her husband Jimmy Pietersz are the owners of P&T Chocolate and Presents BV.
Petra was born in Cadzand in 1964 in Café de Buitenlust (next to P&T) and Jimmy was born in Ridderkerk in 1958.
Jimmy has been infected with the “confectionery-virus” from an early age because his grandfather Piet Verduijn owned a biscuit factory.
1985
Start
Before Petra and Jimmy got married, they visited numerous markets together throughout the Netherlands to sell waffles and giant egg cakes. Egg cakes or ‘’Eierkoeken’’ are a Dutch speciality! The giant egg cakes had a diameter of no less than 19 cm! At the time, these waffles and egg cakes were made by Piet Verduijn in the former domestic school in Aardenburg. A real crowd puller at these markets was Petra beautifully dressed in her Zeeland traditional clothing.
1988
Reflection
In 1988 Jimmy was involved in a one-sided car accident and suffered a high spinal cord injury and was wheelchair bound.
Still young, Petra 24 years old and Jimmy 30 years old with a whole life ahead of them.
Still looking for an interpretation of life, what is not possible, but especially what is still possible?
Biscuits, sweets and chocolate must have continued to run through Jimmy’s veins as a member of the Verduijn family, because shortly afterwards the ISM (also known as the most famous confectionery fair in the world) in Cologne, Germany was visited. Coincidentally they visited a stallholder from Maastricht who sold chocolates, after the visit Jimmy and Petra thought: why don’t we start selling chocolates? Said, done.
1989
Petra’s Presents & Pralines
A friend theirs came up with the idea of making chocolate gifts. One thing led to another and customers such as Jamin and V&D were supplied with their own chocolate gift items.
Petra’s Presents & Pralines started
1995
Relocation
In 1995 the opportunity presented itself to move the production activities to the Ko de Meij warehouse in Cadzand (the warehouse was then used as a straw storage facility) located at the Mariastraat, where P&T is still located today.
2001
P&T Chocolate and Presents
The name was changed to P&T Chocolate and Presents BVwhich fully covers the scope of the current company, creating added value by adding distinctiveness to the range of products.
Up to now
Global expansion
Due to rapidly changing market developments, sales activities became more and more focused on export within the EU and overseas. Significant investments also had to be made in production lines, infrastructure and, last but not least, ICT in order to be able to keep up with current market developments.
Petra continues to focus on the productions and is the figurehead to the outside world while Jimmy focuses on strategy, marketing and sales automation.

The location where P&T Chocolate and Presents B.V. now established is a great hotspot for the business to consumer concept “Petra’s Finest Chocolates” which offers an ideal opportunity to introduce passers-by and day trippers to the products of the chocolate factory in the cozy shop and bargain corner or by consuming a delicious drink on the terrace. The location opposite the Nooitgedacht windmill and right next to the café In De Buitenlust is a junction for many passers-by who find their way from this (junction) point to Cadzand Bad, Cadzand Dorp, Retranchement and the further hinterland.
The flour mill “Nooitgedacht” and the old weighbridge “Cadzandria” complete the picture for the entrance to Cadzand. Definetely worth a stop!
